Head of Blogging for RBI, Adam Tinworth, has shaken my concept of blogging completely.
“We do not create communities. We merely provide services for communities that already exist,” he said.
But this was not the end of it. Tinworth said that blogs must not be opinion. Indeed they are not “rants written in bedrooms” or online diaries; something I thought was synonymous with the blog.
Blogs must be interesting, engaging and, most importantly, be conversation.
Utimatley, it seems the common idea of blogging does not acknowledge its capabilities within the world of media.
With all this focus upon conversation, I decided to go to Cardiff to ask what blogging meant to the people of the street.
Out of 15 people I talked to, 10 of those people had no idea what I was talking about.
Here are some of the other comments.
Anthony Brockwell, 62, Retired, Aldershot, Surrey
Tracey Davies, 21, Dance student, Neath
Nicola Edwards, 42, Housewife, Caldicot
Jesse Holcroft, 22, Student, Cardiff
Dion Dafydd, 25, Office assistant, Cardiff
What do you think about blogging? Is it something that is misunderstood and misused? Get in touch and let me know.
