Vote Gok for Doctor Who?

Ever since David Tennant revealed he would be leaving the Tardis for good after four special shows next year, there has been much speculation as to Who will fill his shoes.

All the predictable candidates are being put forward; David Morrissey, James Nesbitt, Paterson Joseph and Russell Tovey are all popular. But I wasn’t expecting to see this worming its way out of the internet woodwork:
Gok Wan for Doctor Who?

Gok Wan for Doctor Who?

The guru of nakedness has a Facebook group with very dedicated fans and the Gok Wan for Doctor Who campaign is growing.

It certainly would make interesting television. The alien monsters would be hit with wardrobe make-overs, told “How to Look Good Naked’ darling” and be hosed down to remove their superficial vices (yes, this actually happened on Gok’s show). And just imagine the Tardis interior……..

Who do the people in Cardiff (where Doctor Who is filmed) think the next Doctor Who should be?

Richard Matthews, 22, student, Roath, Cardiff

“It should be James McAvoy because all the girls love him. I think he’s a great actor and the ratings would hit the roof. Plus, he’s not gone completely ‘Hollywood’ yet.”

Anna Cardinale, 45, hall floor manager, Porth

“It’s about time there was a female Doctor. They need to bring Doctor Who up to date. Billie Piper was really good in it and would have a good female presence if she was made the lead character.”

Marie Mailey, 56, housewife, Penylan, Cardiff

“They should try to persuade David Tennant to stay. He’s so charismatic, handsome and cute. How can they replace him? He’s been the best one so far.”

Robert-John Viggers, 68, retired, Cardiff

“There’s been so many men playing the Doctor, I think it should be a woman next. Billie Piper’s acting is certainly good enough to make the next Doctor.”

Lisa Lewis, 36, hospital bed and site manager, Swansea

“Jamie Oliver should definitely be Doctor Who because he’s my favourite and he makes me laugh. I’d watch it every week if he was on it.”

Robert Sullivan, 22, warehouse operative, Newport

“Perhaps Jeremy Clarkson or Vinny Jones would make good Doctors. Or it should be Rob Brydon because he’s funny and it would be good to have someone Welsh as the lead character.”
