The political blogging network, TPM Media is an intriguing organisation. With their wealth of influence in the sphere of US politics – with even Barack Obama’s staffers regularly reading TalkingPointsMedia’s posts – they now have a wealth of funding to keep them in blog business.

It was reported today that web pioneer Marc Andreessen has supplied funding for the network of political blogs, supporting the site’s investigative journalism originally founded by Josh Marshall.
As blog networks are clambering to the forefront of current affairs and journalism, I’ve rounded up the other influential blogging networks on the net.
Gawker and Weblogs Inc
One of the first blog networks, these networks rake in lots of business and lots of traffic.
This global blog network receives around 30 million page views a month. With its portfolio of blogs covering everything from entertainment to men’s lifestyle.
Where it’s beauty 100% of the time. Enough said.
Like fathers for justice with a sex change and a cyber coffee morning.
My personal favourite: a blog network for nature lovers. A blog for ugly animals is going strong.
Evidently, there’s a lot of blogs, a lot of networks and so little time. I’m going to be looking at whether networks are beneficial to journalism or whether TPM media is an exception. I’ll keep you posted.
